Hiking Juwangsan

This past weekend, I went hiking and camping at Juwangsan or Juwang Mountain, which is located in Gyeongsanbuk-do, which is in the southeast part of Korea. It is a national park in Korea, and is famous for its many small waterfalls as well as unique rock formations.

Since it’s a little bit out of the way in regards to public transportation, the park is not as heavily visited by tourists.

The hiking course itself is fairly easy. The course to the top has a short steep section, then many areas with stairs and small viewing areas. You can look out from the top and get a nice view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Another course that I took passed mainly by the waterfalls. It was raining lightly that day, and the waterfalls and streams benefited from the rainfall. This part of the hike was very gentle - more like a stroll through the park or a nature walk. For this hike, most of the path was either a dirt path or stairs or a man-made constructed wooden path.

As seen below, there were many small waterfalls such as Yongeon Falls and Jeolgu Falls, which are 2-tier waterfalls, as well as a small caves such as Yeonhwagui.
